Letter: What happened to integrity and moral character?

I graduated from high school the year Donald Trump was elected.

Growing up as a Latter-day Saint and Boy Scout, I was taught personal integrity and moral character were prerequisites to being a good leader, yet many of the same individuals who taught me this in my youth fervently support an amoral man to be the leader of the free world.

A man who was unfaithful in all three of his marriages. A man who is on tape bragging about sexual assault. A man who has dozens of accusers of sexual assault. A man known for vulgar, profanity-laced speeches. A man who routinely demeans women based on appearance. A man who is anything but humble and whose ego is world renowned.

“Actions speak louder than words” — a saying I heard much of in my youth. My former teachers’ and leaders’ acts of support for an amoral man speak louder to me than the words I heard them say.

I believe there are many others of my generation who are hearing these actions loud and clear. We are hearing the implicit reenforcement of moral relativism.
