‘Mulan’ will eventually be free to Disney Plus subscribers — if you can wait a few months

The live-action remake will be available for ‘Premier Access’ on Disney Plus starting Sept. 4, but will become free to subscribers later this year

After months of delays, the new live-action “Mulan” debuts on Disney Plus tomorrow. But for those who can wait a little bit longer, the film will be available on the streaming service at no extra cost, according to The Verge.

Disney announced earlier this month that the movie would be skipping theaters and going straight to “Premier Access” on Disney Plus — meaning that subscribers can pay a fee of $29.99 to watch it on the streaming service, starting Sept. 4, the Deseret News previously reported.

But now, according to a new description on the “Mulan” page on Disney Plus, the film will be made available for free to subscribers starting Dec. 4, according to The Verge.

Meanwhile, the “Premier Access” for “Mulan” will only be available on Disney Plus until Nov. 2, according to Variety.

For those who choose to purchase “Mulan,” the film will remain available “as long as you are an active Disney Plus subscriber,” the Disney Plus website says, according to Variety.

“Mulan” was originally scheduled to debut in theaters in March, but was postponed several times because of the coronavirus pandemic before being moved to Disney Plus, according to Fox Business.

However, “Mulan” will still see a theatrical release in China, where it is scheduled to open on Sept. 11, according to Variety.
