Ben McAdams, Burgess Owens make final arguments to Utah voters. Read them here

The two are neck-and-neck two weeks before Election Day

Utah’s two candidates for the 4th Congressional District seat, Rep. Ben McAdams and Burgess Owens, are neck-and-neck two weeks before election day. The most recent Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll shows Owens with a one-point lead over the incumbent McAdams, with a margin of error of 3.5%. Five percent of voters are undecided.

The Deseret News has invited both McAdams and Owens to make their pitches to Utah voters. In his op-ed, Rep. McAdams emphasizes the importance of focusing on individuals instead of political agendas. “The divisiveness and gridlock in Washington won’t get better until we put people ahead of party,” he wrote. “My commitment to Utah as it begins to cast votes is to keep the focus not on a political party’s agenda, but on the needs of Utah’s hardworking families.”

Burgess Owens underscores his own success story as a model of the American Dream. “I know about second chances and many Utahns do, too,” he wrote. “Washington politicians, focused on preserving their own power, really don’t share Utahns’ shared belief in America’s redemption story.”
