Coronavirus: Utah responds to the pandemic

Utah has seen 108,803 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 588 total deaths as of Wednesday, according to the Utah Department of Health. That’s an increase of 1,575 cases from Tuesday. Ten new deaths were reported.

Here are the latest numbers.

• Total number of COVID-19 cases: 108,803
• Total reported people tested: 1,052,059
• Total COVID-19 hospitalizations: 5,247
• Total COVID-19 deaths: 588
• Single-day high for reported cases: 1,960 (Oct. 23)
• Single-day high for reported deaths: 15 (Oct. 2)

Recently

• On Sunday, hospital officials said the state might soon need to implement crisis standards of care after a week of record case counts and hospitalizations.
• On Friday, the state saw another record day of cases that brought the state over 101,000 total positive tests.

Worldwide

Globally, the novel coronavirus pandemic has now infected 43,766,712 and killed 1,163,459 people as of Wednesday, according to the World Health Organization.
