Jamie Foxx will return to the ‘Spider-Man’ movies — just in a new series.
Jamie Foxx will return to the Spider-Man universe as Electro in the upcoming third “Spider-Man” film with Tom Holland, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- Foxx previously played Electro in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which starred Andrew Garfield in the lead role.
- Foxx’s villain will face off with Holland’s Spider-Man this time around, bringing Electro into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- Several supporting cast members — like Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori — will likely return, too.
Why it matters
The move represents another shift in how Marvel films — those from Sony and those from Disney — continue to blend together.
There’s some speculation that Holland’s Spider-Man will cross over with the Spider-Verse seen in “Into the Spider-Verse.”
Holland thinks it’s a good idea, according to ComicBook.com.
- “Of course I would love to make a movie with those guys, it would be so cool!” Holland said. “It would be amazing, it would be really, really cool. And it’s something that the fans really want. So whether Marvel and Sony decided to do that, it’s up to them. It’s not up to me, I can’t walk in like ‘Kevin (Feige), this is what we’re doing on the next one.’ But it would be really awesome.”
