Motorcyclist killed in crash on S.R. 39 near Monte Cristo

HUNTSVILLE, Weber County — A motorcyclist died Saturday after crashing on state Route 39, troopers said.

The crash occurred about 4 p.m. near the Monte Cristo mountain range near the border of both Weber and Rich counties when the westbound motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brandon Whitehead.

Several people stopped to help the man, Whitehead said, and he was initially conscious, breathing and alert. But he then went into cardiac arrest, and crews were unable to revive him, according to the sergeant.

The motorcyclist, described as a Clinton man in his 60s, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His name has not yet been released.
