Woman charged with shooting man in face in South Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY — A woman accused of shooting a man in the face in his apartment was charged Friday.

Twenty-eight-year old Breasia Marie Montano, who goes by the moniker “Giggles,” of West Valley City, was charged in 3rd District Court with two counts of aggravated robbery, and discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, first-degree felonies; and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony.

On Aug. 30, two women went to a South Salt Lake apartment and confronted a man who had borrowed money from Montano, according to charging documents. During the altercation, Montano hit the man with a handgun while the other woman “ransacked” his apartment, the charges state.

Montano then told the man’s roommate “that he would need to call an ambulance and then she proceeded to shoot (the man),” according to the charges.

The first arriving officers found the man “had a large hole in the right side of his face” and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Montano is a documented gang member and is currently in the Salt Lake County Jail on other warrants, the charges state. The identity of the second woman was unknown as of Friday.
