Multiple YouTube viewers said they saw a new advertisement for ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Don’t worry. It’s not coming out this year.
Multiple social media users have claimed they saw an advertisement for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” saying the film is coming out this holiday season.
- This is, of course, false.
What happened:
Social media users reported seeing a new YouTube ad for “The Rise of Skywalker.”

The 15-second advertisement starts with “this Christmas” and ends with “tickets now available.”
You can see the ad below. The ad is still running as of Nov. 24, 2020, which is an odd thing to happen since the film has already debuted.
“Rise of Skywalker” came out Dec. 20, 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic absolutely changed the world.
Seriously. I attended a “Star Wars” movie marathon in December 2019 for the release of the film. The entire marathon lasted for 25 hours and showed all nine movies of the Skywalker Saga. You can read my thoughts on the marathon at Deseret News.
