I find the current attitude about the November election to be both interesting and disturbing. There are so many people who will not listen to facts, if those facts are contrary to their long-held beliefs. It calls to mind what a popular talk show host said recently, “There is your personal view, and then there is the statistical reality.”
There are so many who so firmly believe Trump about the election being stolen from him. Trump has talked about numerous sources of corruption and fraud, but his allegations do not equal evidence. The court system works on evidence, not allegations. If there were widespread fraud and corruption, how do those on Trump’s side explain that not one Republican governor, not one Republican secretary of state, not one Republican-appointed judge — not one judge of any political persuasion — has found sufficient evidence of widespread fraud or corruption?
Trump was given every opportunity to take his allegations to the courts. The courts have spoken. It is past time for his supporters to face reality and accept the fact that the people fairly and legally elected Joe Biden as our new president. It was Trump who tried to steal the election by attempting to invalidate legally cast ballots. He failed. Democracy waded through a messy post-election process, but in the end democracy prevailed.
