Springville police investigate shooting death of woman, 43

SPRINGVILLE — Springville police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old woman.

Officers found the body of Victoria Ramirez while responding to a report of gunshots inside a home at 944 S. 1000 East on Wednesday, the department said in a prepared statement.

After a brief standoff with a 23-year-old man who was barricaded in the basement, police took him into custody without incident. A 14-year-old girl sustained injuries while police apprehended her, according to the statement. Both were brought to a hospital for medical treatment.

No further details were available Thursday.
