2 killed when car traveling wrong way hits Tesla on freeway, UHP says

DELLE, Tooele County — Two drivers died Sunday after a crash in Tooele County.

About 5 p.m., a Buick Enclave was heading the wrong way in eastbound lanes of I-80 near Delle, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The Buick then collided with a Tesla car, causing flames to engulf both cars.

Both drivers died on scene, according to the UHP. Their names have not yet been released.

A passenger in the Tesla was pulled from the car and flown to a Salt Lake hospital in serious condition with compound fractures to both legs, troopers said.

Eastbound I-80 in the area remained closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.
