Since arriving in Logan in mid-December, Utah State football coach Blake Anderson has made waves with his recruiting, albeit almost exclusively via the transfer portal.
After former Arkansas State quarterback Logan Bonner committed to the Aggies on Dec. 29, Utah State has welcomed seven additional transfers into the program, from Power Five programs like Miami and Texas, as well as the Group of Five and junior college ranks.
On Friday, Utah State’s recruiting for the 2021 class took a different turn, however, as the Aggies landed a commitment from a high school prospect, the first of the Anderson era.
Three-star athlete Martavious Davis committed to the Aggies over Twitter, becoming the third high schooler to commit to USU ahead of national signing day (Box Elder’s Parker Buchanan and Bingham’s Tupou Maile are also committed to the Aggies, having done so under the previous regime, while Sky View’s Isaac Larsen signed during the early signing period).

A native of Attalla, Alabama, and student at Etowah High, the 5-foot-10, 160-pound Davis previously committed to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, who finished the 2020 season ranked No. 15 in the final AP poll.
He committed to Louisiana last August, then decommitted on Jan. 3, and had scholarship offers from Akron, Arkansas State and Central Michigan. According to 247Sports, Utah State offered Davis on Jan. 19.
Davis played both ways at Etowah, spending time at cornerback, running back and wide receiver. He is listed as an athlete by 247Sports.
