SALT LAKE CITY — Flag-waving demonstrators gathered at Utah’s state Capitol Wednesday afternoon to protest Congress accepting the results of the Electoral College votes.
The gathering was peaceful as 50 to 100 protesters, some carrying flags promoting Blue Lives Matter, President Donald Trump, the “Don’t Tread on Me” logo, and numerous homemade signs on preventing “The Steal” or “Stop Socialism” or “Support the Constitution,” listened to speakers.
Some had military-style rifles slung on their backs.
Police were not making a strong show of presence as participants were sitting on Capitol steps listening to speakers.
A few counterprotesters in passing cars would honk or yell at the crowd, while demonstrators standing on the street shout support for Trump or “stop the steal.”
