SOUTH SALT LAKE — A South Salt Lake man arrested over the weekend in connection with a fatal auto-pedestrian crash has a lengthy history of drug-related crimes, according to court records,

Joshua Edward Larry Fenstermaker, 34, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Sunday for investigation of negligently operating a vehicle causing death.

The incident happened about 5:45 a.m. Sunday at 3280 S. 300 West, according to a police affidavit. Fenstermaker hit Lark Anderson, 47, with his car, killing her, police said.

Police noted that Fenstermaker appeared to be impaired, and after performing poorly on field sobriety tests, he “admitted to consuming controlled substances several days prior,” the affidavit states. “A preliminary urine screening indicated positive for Oyxcodone/morphine, cocaine and benzodiazepines.”

Police also noted in their affidavit that this was Fenstermaker’s second DUI arrest in a month. On Dec. 23 he was found parked in a no parking zone in Salt Lake County, according to a police affidavit, where he showed signs of impairment and meth was found in his vehicle.

According to court records, Fenstermaker’s criminal history and problems with drugs dates back to at least 2005. He was sentenced to up to five years in the Utah State Prison in 2011 on a drug possession conviction, sentenced to jail in 2013 for drug possession, and jail again in 2016 for drug possession. He was also convicted of drug distribution in 2017, court records state.
