ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday afternoon that “several members” of the LA Clippers “support staff” are quarantined after a positive COVID-19 test came back following the team’s recent stop in Utah.
Wojnarowski reported that contact tracing led back to eight people attending a New Year’s Eve meal in a suite at the team hotel in which there was “intermittent mask-wearing.” In all, Wojnarowski later reported, seven people are in quarantine.
Utah Jazz opponents stay at the Grand America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. The Clippers and Jazz played the next night at Vivint Arena.
Wojnarowski initially reported that the group was quarantined in Salt Lake City, but later said the people left in “sprinter vans” and are quarantining in Los Angeles.
Wojnarowski reported that the quarantined group includes no players, coaches or team management.
The Clippers are in Phoenix to play the Suns on Sunday evening, while the Jazz are in San Antonio to face the Spurs to open a seven-game road trip.
