Former United States Men’s National Team forward Bobby Wood has agreed to a deal with Real Salt Lake, per a report from The Athletic’s Sam Stejskal.
Wood is currently playing for Hamburg SV in the second division of the German Bundesliga. HIs contract will expire in June, setting him up for a July arrival in Salt Lake City, but Wood could terminate his contact and join RSL before that date, according to Stejskal.
The 28-year-old striker has played in 17 matches (287 minutes) over the last two seasons and has not scored a goal since 2018, when he played for Hannover 96 of the Bundesliga.
Wood has not played for the USMNT since 2018, when he played 940 minutes during World Cup Qualifying. It was his best year for the national team, as he scored five goals during qualifying and another three during friendlies.
The MLS is targeting March to kick off the regular season.
