Despite holding a big lead in the second half, the Utah State Aggies nearly gave their game Friday night in Logan away to the Nevada Wolf Pack, but they did just enough in the closing seconds to come away with the win to snap a two-game losing streak.

Here are three takeaways from the contest.

  • Up by 10 with less than two minutes to go, the Aggies allowed the Wolf Pack to get within two with 31 seconds to play. Steven Ashworth made two free throws to extend the lead to four and the advantage was five after a Brock Miller free throw, but Nevada’s Daniel Foster made a 3-pointer with five seconds to play. Ashworth then made just one of two free throws and the Wolf Pack had a last second heave to try to tie. It was right on line but came up just short and Utah State escaped.
  • The Aggies held a 16-point lead at halftime behind advantages in every significant statistical category and were in control for 38 of the game’s 40 minutes before stumbling at the end.
  • Both teams had four players who finished with at least 10 points.
