Utah has seen 368,601 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,879 total deaths as of Wednesday, according to the Utah Department of Health. That’s an increase of 812 cases from Tuesday. Fourteen additional deaths were reported.

- Total number of COVID-19 cases: 368,601

- Vaccines administered: 641,881
- Total COVID-19 hospitalizations: 14,554
- Current COVID-19 hospitalizations: 222
- Total COVID-19 deaths: 1,879
- Single-day high for reported cases: 4,672 (Dec. 31)
- Single-day high for reported deaths: 30 (Dec. 17 and Jan. 21)
Recently
- A new statewide health order in effect through March 25 would no longer make wearing masks mandatory in counties designated as having low COVID-19 transmission rates once the state’s allocation of vaccine reaches some four times the current level.
- There hasn’t been a single admission for RSV at Primary Children’s Hospital this year, said Dr. Andrew Pavia, director of epidemiology at Primary Children’s Hospital, on Monday. Influenza infections have also been extremely rare.
- More than 18,000 people were vaccinated in the state on Friday, according to the Utah Department of Health.
- Utah is readying itself for “mass vaccination sites” that will be set up in the spring, likely March or April, as vaccine supplies increase.
- Utahns 65 and older are now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19, Gov. Spencer Cox announced Thursday. However, residents who have specified chronic medical conditions will still have to wait until March 1.
- Much of Utah’s weekly COVID-19 vaccine allotment has been delayed by winter storms across the nation and may not make it here until next week, a Utah Department of Health official said.
- Health experts warned that now is not the time to ease up against the deadly virus even amid the recent decline in cases Tuesday.
Worldwide
Globally, the novel coronavirus pandemic has now infected 111,762,965 and killed 2,479,678 people as of Wednesday, according to the World Health Organization.
