LOGAN — A man was arrested over the weekend after police say he drove his car up to the front doors of the 1st District Courthouse in Logan and made a bomb threat.

Logan police were initially called to a Smith’s Food and Drug store about 10:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man acting strangely and “mumbling about a bomb threat at the courthouse.”

Officers found Zachary Aaron Kidd, 35, who exclaimed, “There is an active bomb threat on the courthouse, there are two judges trying to play dirty,” according to a police affidavit.

Kidd then told police they would find his car in front of the courthouse. When asked what was inside the vehicle, Kidd replied, “I don’t know. ... I am not the threat, I’m the warning,” the affidavit states.

Police responding to the courthouse, 135 N. 100 West, which was closed at the time, discovered that a car “had been driven up onto the lawn and walkway area” and was parked as close as a vehicle could be to the entrance, according to the affidavit.

The area was closed off to pedestrian traffic and fire crews and a bomb detecting police K-9 were called to the scene. No explosives were found in the vehicle, according to police.

Kidd was booked into the Cache County Jail for investigation of making a threat of terrorism.

According to court records, Kidd was charged on Saturday in Logan Justice Court with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
