Tiger Woods has been involved in a major crash in Los Angeles. The Jaws of Life were needed to rescue him
Tiger Woods was injured in a major car crash Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports.
- Woods currently has “non-life-threatening injuries” and has suffered “compound fractures,” according to CNN.

How the Woods crash unfolded
An official with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said Woods’ vehicle crossed the center of a roadway before the crash Tuesday, per CNN.
- “It’s kind of a downhill grade, and there are some winding turns, as well,” Capt. James Powers said, according to CNN. “It crossed the center median and went up the curb on the other side of the road, and it overturned into some shrubs.”
- “It took them about six minutes to arrive on scene, and they found a vehicle that had been overturned,” Powers said, according to CNN, “and it was off into some brush.”
Woods in major crash
Originally, authorities with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Woods had to removed from his vehicle using the Jaws of Life, which is a heavy-duty tool that can cut through metal, according to Fox News. That claim was later taken back.

- “The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage,” officials said in a tweeted statement. “The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods. Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.”

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, released a statement about the crash, saying Woods suffered multiple leg injuries.
- “Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support,” Steinberg said.
