Letter: There is no middle ground for girls sports

Despite what the governor recently suggested, there is no “middle ground” solution in which biological males can be allowed to compete in girls sports — there is no solution there that does not end up ruining many sports for girls.

There is, however, a true middle ground solution that can work for everyone without ruining sports for girls, and that would be to have three options: boys sports leagues, girls sports leagues, and everyone (aka “coed”) sports leagues. The first two leagues include participants based on their biological features, but in the third everyone is allowed to participate, regardless of their biology, how they identify, etc.

For a given sport, each school or community chooses which type of league based on interest level, exactly like it works today.
