Utah Department of Health reports 412 new cases and 1 death on Sunday
SALT LAKE CITY — More than a quarter of all Utahns have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Utah Department of Health.
About 10% of Utahns are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with two doses of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. With another nearly 12% of the population having had confirmed diagnoses of COVID-19, it is estimated that more than 20% are protected, the health department reports.
Another 412 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of known cases in Utah since the pandemic began to 374,850.
More than 2.2 million people have been tested, including another 4,427 since Saturday’s report from the health department. The state and other partnering organizations have administered nearly 4 million tests, including 8,818 since Saturday.
The rolling seven-day average percent of people who are testing positive with COVID-19 is 9.2%, with an overall test positivity average of 4.4%.
There are now 191 people hospitalized with COVID-19 throughout Utah, and the health department reported one new death caused by the disease. The death is a Cache County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized at the time of his death.
In all, there have been 1,976 people in Utah who have died from COVID-19 since it was first reported in the state in March 2020.
