Reports: Utah Jazz to sign veteran shooter Ersan Ilyasova

The Utah Jazz are adding yet another sharpshooter to their team.

After waiving Shaq Harrison at the end of February, the Jazz were required to add another player within two weeks, and on Tuesday, multiple outlets reported that veteran forward Ersan Ilyasova is who the team has turned to.

Jordan Schultz was first to report news of the pending transaction.

The 33-year-old Ilyasova has been in the NBA since 2005 with the exception of a stint in Spain, another in his native Turkey (the latter was during an NBA lockout in 2011 but Ilyasova returned when the league resumed) and the beginning of this season. He finished last season with the Milwaukee Bucks but got waived by them in November.

For his career in the NBA, the 6-foot-10, 235-pound Ilyasova has averaged 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 44% from the field and 37% from behind the 3-point line.

It is not entirely clear how Ilyasova might fit into the Jazz’s plans, as they’ve got a number of perimeter-oriented forwards.
