Alcohol believed to be factor in fatal southern Utah crash

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal crash on U.S. 89 between Kanab and Big Water in Kane County on Thursday.

A Honda passenger vehicle was traveling on the road about 7:15 p.m. when the driver “lost control in a bend in the roadway” and the Honda crossed into oncoming traffic where it was T-boned by a Ford F-350, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Honda, whose name was not immediately released, was killed. Two people in the Ford were taken to Kane County Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and were released a short time later, the UHP stated.

Investigators believe “alcohol impairment” with the deceased driver was a factor in the crash.
