How to watch, listen to or stream the Salt Lake City Regional semifinals

The afternoon session will feature No. 6 Utah, No. 11 Arizona State, Boise State and Southern Utah, while the night session will include No. 3 LSU, No. 14 Kentucky, Utah State and Arizona

Salt Lake City NCAA Regional semifinals

Day session

When: 1 p.m. MDT

Venue: Maverik Center (12,600 capacity; All spectators, working staff and coaches will be required to wear a mask/face covering at all times. Tickets will be sold by session. After each session, the arena will be emptied and thoroughly sanitized prior to the next wave of teams and spectators)

The teams

• No. 6 Utah (17-1, 197.556)
• No. 11 Arizona State (9-8, 197.088)
• No. 17 Boise State (11-3, 196.788)
• No. 21 Southern Utah (6-11, 196.675)

The stakes

Now that it is the postseason, the stakes are the same for every single team. The two teams that finish with the best scores in the regional semifinal will keep their season alive and earn a berth in the regional final. The other two teams — those that finish third and fourth — will go home, their season’s over.

• For Utah, a top-two finish will keep alive the dream of a 45th straight trip to nationals, an NCAA record (to be clear, the Red Rocks set a new record each season when they advance to nationals).
• Arizona State hadn’t qualified for the postseason since 2006, meaning this year is already a success story. Advance to the regional final the Sun Devils could match that 2006 postseason run, when they finished ninth in the country.
• Boise State and Southern Utah, both made the postseason as recently as 2019. The Broncos and T-Birds took part in the Corvallis Regional. Boise State advanced to the third day of competition — the regional final — before falling short, while Southern Utah finished fourth in its semifinal.

The gymnasts

While each team has their share of excellent competitors — Utah has five All-Americans alone — these are the standouts.

• Maile O’Keefe (Utah) — Ranked No. 1 on balance and No. 6 in the all-around.
• Hannah Scharf (ASU) — Ranked No. 16 in the all-around, No. 28 on floor.
• Emily Muhlenhaupt (Boise State) — Ranked No. 4 on bars.
• Karley McClain (SUU) — Ranked No. 33 in the all-around, No. 37 on floor.

The stakes

• LSU has been one of the better teams in the country the last decade, qualifying for the postseason every year since 2012. The Tigers were one of the final four teams in the country in 2019 and finished second overall behind Oklahoma, just the second second-place finish at nationals in program history.
• Kentucky made program history three years ago, in 2018, when the team qualified for the national semifinals for the first time. That was the final year of the Super Six and the Wildcats haven’t been back to nationals since.
• Over the last two seasons, Utah State has broken numerous program records and has now qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2017. A top-two finish would be yet another step forward in the Aggies’ rebuild.
• It took everything Arizona had to qualify for the postseason and the Wildcats are back in a familiar position. In 2018-19, Arizona competed against Iowa in the play-in meet and came up short. Two years later, the Wildcats have the opportunity to take a real step forward.

The gymnasts

• Haleigh Bryant (LSU) — Ranked No. 9 in the all-around, No. 3 on vault and No. 4 on floor.
• Raena Worley (UK) — Ranked No. 14 in the all-around, No. 21 on floor.
• Autumn DeHarde (Utah State) — Ranked No. 21 on balance beam.
• Malia Hargrove (Arizona) — Ranked No. 94 on floor, No. 95 on vault.
