While other seniors, including big man Matt Haarms and guard Brandon Averette, moved on, Barcello will take advantage of the extra year of eligibility the NCAA allowed due to the pandemic.
Barcello averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists this past season, leading the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament, their first trip to the NCAAs in five years.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior from Chandler, Arizona, made the announcement at a fathers and sons basketball camp in the Smith Fieldhouse on BYU’s campus.
