Taysom Hill’s offseason workout this year has been well-documented as the former BYU star tries to earn his first NFL starting quarterback job with the New Orleans Saints.

This offseason is unique in another way, too, for Hill. It’s his first full offseason as a father, after his wife Emily gave birth to a baby boy, Beau Hill, last August.

What’s the best thing about being a father for Hill, whose first Father’s Day as a dad is coming up on June 20?

“Our little guy’s nine months old now, and we’re entering this phase where he totally knows who his dad is. When I walk through the door, the smile that he gives me after I’ve been at work is just priceless,” Hill told 7-year-old reporter Emmy Eaton during an appearance on her latest video segment.

“Just the instant feedback and gratification of seeing this little guy smile at me as a dad is what sticks out.”

Hill also revealed another interesting fact about his family while speaking with Eaton: He has over 40 nieces and nephews. “I’m an uncle to a lot of kids out there and come from big families, and I think that might surprise you,” he told Eaton.

‘7 Questions with Emmy’

The real star of Hill’s interview, though, was Eaton, who in the past year has teamed with East Idaho News to create video segments where the second grader (let’s call her a third grader, since the school year is basically over) interviews celebrities, both local and national, called “7 Questions with Emmy.”

Eaton hails from Idaho Falls, not far from Hill’s hometown in Pocatello.

Eaton recently appeared on the “Today” show after interviewing co-host Hoda Kotb for one of her segments. Eaton has also interviewed, among others, violinist Lindsey Stirling, Utah dad-and-daughter performing duo Mat and Savanna Shaw, national TV host Dr. Oz, actor Dean Cain and Keith Morrison, the host of NBC’s “Dateline,” who was her first interview.

Shades of a Tom Brady interview

Eaton’s questions to Hill brought to memory another father-son moment from a few years ago, when a 7-year-old boy asked seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady who his hero is prior to Super Bowl LI.

“Well, I think my dad is my hero because he’s someone that I look up to every day,” Brady said.
