Ohio is for lovers, and Salt Lake City is for ... cats?
In a recent study released by the pet care company One Vet, Salt Lake City emerged as the third best city in the United States for cats, coming in behind Miami and Orlando.
For its research, the company ranked 50 major cities, considering factors that affect a cat’s quality of life — including the number of pet-friendly rentals, the number of veterinarians, the number of cat adoptions in a year, the number of cat cafes and the number of pet stores.
Out of a possible score of 50, Salt Lake City claimed the No. 3 spot with an overall score of 39.69, according to an email sent to the Deseret News. Utah’s capital also ranked fifth when it came to cat adoptions last year — the city had 981 cat adoptions per 100,000 people in 2020, according to the study.
The worst city for cats to find a cat-friendly home, local veterinarian and a pet store was New York, which had a score of 5.93.
