USA Olympics released a statement about Biles’ withdrawal from the team final, according to The Washington Post.
- “Simone has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue,” the organization said in a statement. “She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.”
What happened to Simone Biles? Is she injured?
Per ESPN, Biles night ended after the one vault. Biles appeared to slip during the vault and almost landed on her knees as she attempted an Amanar vault, according to Fox News. She finished with a 13.66 score.
She sat down with her trainer and shook her head, saying she was fine before she left the arena.
Who will replace Simone Biles?
Jordan Chiles replaced Biles on the uneven bars competition. All went well for Team USA soon after as three hit their routines.
- “With Biles out of the competition, the U.S. team showed nerves of steel on bars, with three hit routines,” according to ESPN.
ROC beat the United States for the women’s gymnastics team title at Tokyo Olympics. The USA took home the silver medal for the competition.
