In recent weeks, Utah State’s football program has had considerable success on the recruiting trail, building what is currently considered by 247 Sports to be the 66th-best class in the country and the second-best class in the Mountain West Conference.
On Sunday, the Aggies added yet another player, only this one isn’t a part of that 2022 recruiting class. The Aggies instead got some more immediate help, adding another player to their long list of incoming transfers.
Former Troy cornerback Monté McGary announced on Twitter that he is headed to Utah State as a graduate transfer, with two years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-0, 186 pound McGary is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and will come to Logan after a circuitous college career. Coming out of Omaha South High School, McGary attended FCS power South Dakota State, redshirting his freshman season in 2016, before playing in all 16 games the following year.
He then transferred to the JUCO ranks, playing for Iowa Western, and in 2018 helped the Reivers to a 10-1 overall record and a victory over Snow College in the Graphic Edge Bowl. That season, Iowa Western ranked No. 3 in the final NJCAA poll.
In 2019, McGary transferred to Troy, but missed the entire season with a shoulder injury and received a medical hardship waiver. He then did not play the entirety of the 2020 season.
Per 247 Sports, McGary put his name in the transfer portal on January 14 of this year. According to Rivals, he chose the Aggies over offers from Eastern Michigan, New Mexico State, Jackson State and James Madison.
