For years, Utah Jazz wing Joe Ingles has said that winning an Olympic medal for his native Australia would be one of the biggest highlights of his life.
“I mean, I’ve got a wonderful wife and kids that I love dearly, but it would be right up there with having my children and my wife,” he said before the Tokyo Olympics after his squad beat Team USA in an exhibition game.
Australia indeed wound up winning the bronze medal, marking the first time the Boomers have reached the podium, and now Ingles has done something completely adorable with his medal.
Fittingly, it involves one of his children he referenced after that win over Team USA.
Ingles posted on social media Wednesday a photo of his medal hung up right next to a participation medal his 5-year-old daughter Milla received after playing youth soccer earlier this year.
“Milla told me after we won Bronze that we have the same medals now...,” Ingles wrote. “Hers being a participation medal for soccer season..Then also went on to say that they have to hang next to each other...So.......Damn straight they hang next to each other now.”
Ingles ended the message with a heart emoji.
