Four former Utah college quarterbacks had their chance to make an impression during NFL preseason action Saturday night.

For Zach Wilson, Tyler Huntley and Jordan Love, all of whom played in their first NFL preseason games, it was a positive experience.

For Taysom Hill, in competition for a starting job, it was more of an uneven night.

Tyler Huntley: The former Utah quarterback scored the game-winner in the Baltimore Ravens’ 17-14 victory over the New Orleans Saints, rushing for a 7-yard touchdown with 6:35 to play.

Huntley, who’s in competition to back up starter Lamar Jackson, played the second half for Baltimore and was efficient, completing 12 of 16 passes for 79 yards while also rushing for a team-high 43 yards and the game-winning score.

Fellow Ravens quarterback Trace McSorley played the first half and completed 11 of 18 passes for 86 yards and led three field goal scoring drives.

Jordan Love: After nearly two years since playing in his last game, the second-year pro and former Utah State standout started for Green Bay in the Packers’ 26-7 loss to the Houston Texans.

Love led one scoring drive, capping a nine-play, 88-yard drive with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Kylin Hill in the opening minute of the second quarter.

Love completed 12 of 17 passes for 122 yards, finishing with a 110.4 QB rating after playing the first half for Green Bay. It was his first game since Utah State, after COVID-19 led to the NFL cancelling the preseason during Love’s rookie year in 2020.

Zach Wilson: The former BYU star and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft had a positive night for the New York Jets in their 12-7 win over the New York Giants.

Wilson, who is expected to start as a rookie, started for New York and played into the opening minutes of the second quarter and led the Jets to a field goal on his first drive.

On the night, Wilson completed 6 of 9 passes for 63 yards before giving way to his backups.

Taysom Hill: The former BYU quarterback is in competition with Jameis Winston for the New Orleans Saints’ starting job, and on this night Winston was better in the Saints’ 17-14 loss to the Ravens.

Hill started for New Orleans and completed 4 of 5 passes for 62 yards, including two third-down passes for first downs on the Saints’ opening drive, which ended without points after teammate Latavius Murray lost a fumble inside the 10.

From there, though, Hill had a tougher night. He threw an interception near midfield, took a costly sack on a third down and completed 8 of 12 passes for 81 yards in a quarter of play.

Winston, meanwhile, completed 7 of 12 passes for 96 yards, a touchdown and an interception while leading New Orleans’ only two touchdown drives.
