Wildfires, thunderstorms and ... snow? Why it’s possible we’ll see some snow this week

Utah is expected to see massive storms that could bring fire and flood threats to the state.

  • But the weather could bring snow, too.

Upcoming Utah weather forecast

The National Weather Service said Monday that there is a flash flood warning for much of Utah, including the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake County to the southern Utah border.

  • There’s also a red flag warning for the northwest part of the state since the upcoming thunderstorms could bring massive rounds of lightning.

On Tuesday, there’s a risk of thunderstorms developing. Those storms are “capable of producing torrential rainfall,” according to National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center.

Will there be snow this week in Utah?

Grant Weyman, of KSL Weather, said Tuesday there will be big changes for Utah this week as storms will arrive on Tuesday afternoon. There will be more rain and cooler air on Wednesday night into Thursday.

  • “We could even see some snow in the very high elevations Thursday,” he said on Tuesday morning.
  • There’s more rain possible for Saturday, too.

Indeed, you should expect to see some rain. One look at the upcoming NWS forecast shows plenty of rain coming to Utah.
