Weber 38, Farmington 35
Jake Lindsay and Easton White both threw two touchdown passes as they led their teams to a 28-28 tie through three quarters. Weber would strike first in the final period with a Jaycee Jones 25-yard field goal. Boston Reinhold gave the Phoenix the lead with his third rushing touchdown of the game before Aisea Moa would answer with a two yard run. Moa’s touchdown with just over two minutes left gave the Warriors the victory.

Stockton Short had an awesome game and Cannon DeVries came up with two huge picks. One to switch the momentum and another to seal the deal. I’m proud of our guys it was a great team win.”

Fremont 41, Clearfield 14
After conceding the first touchdown of the game to Clearfield, the Silverwolves scored all 41 of its points unanswered to kick off its play in Region 1 with a victory. Fremont’s Hayden Hall scored two total touchdowns and Kyler Kotter had the highlight of the night with a 47-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.
Layton 24, Davis 21
Jackson Stevens hit Ty Hoagland for a 28-yard touchdown pass with just under three minutes to go to bring the Darts even with Layton. The Lancers responded by driving all the way down the field where Porter Hansen kicked the game-winning field goal with five seconds remaining as Layton beat Davis for the first time since 2012. Layton QB Garrett Gifford finished the game completing 8 of 15 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to a rushing score. His TD passes were to Josh Taylor and Elias Parkinson, who each made their first catch of the season.

Region 2
Kearns 44, Taylorsville 0
Kearns opened up its region play with a 44-point dismantling of Taylorsville. Quarterback Iosefa Toia’ivao threw for four touchdowns while rushing for two more scores in the Cougars’ Friday night victory.
“Our defense played great. Our QB Iosefa had a tremendous game along with the rest of the offense. Just need to clean up penalties. Special teams had a blocked field goal and forced a lot of bad punts.”

Roy 20, Hunter 16
Despite trailing 16-7 al halftime, the Royals rallied with a shutout second half to pick up the road win. Cole West ran for a touchdown between two Britton Watts field goals. Omarian Jackson scored the two Hunter touchdowns.
“Hunter came out and punched us in the mouth. Down 16-7 at half, we responded and I can’t be prouder of this team. Losing two key players they found a way to win.”

West 21, Cyprus 0
Cyprus couldn’t get anything going while facing a stifling Panthers defense Friday night. Quarterback Karson Lopati found Lava Vailahi for two touchdowns in the second quarter, helping the offense compliment the shutout from the defense.
Region 6
Olympus 45, Murray 21
Sam Seagle and Isaac Hodgson each rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and Olympus’ first-team defense held Murray in check for three quarters before a couple of late touchdowns with a running clock as the Titans opened region play with a solid victory to improve to 3-1 on the season.
“I feel we put together a complete game in all three phases. I was happy with our offensive line tonight, they created a lot of opportunities for us. I’m impressed with the resiliency of Murray, they are a well-coached team that could make a deep run.”

Brighton 51, Highland 21
Brighton scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first three periods, leading to a dominant 30-point road victory at Highland. Jack Johnson threw four touchdown passes for the Bengals.
Park City 24, East 23
Facing a 14 point deficit to start the fourth quarter, East was able to score two touchdowns — the last of which coming with less than a minute to go — but a blocked extra point on the last touchdown prevented the Leopards from tying the game and gave the Miners a 1-point victory Friday night. Running back Carson Tabaracci scored two touchdowns to help Park City pick up its first win of the year.

Region 7
Cedar Valley 42, Payson 16
Cedar Valley broke open a close game at the half with a dominant performance in the second half, outscoring the Lions 24-0 in the final two quarters for the region-opening victory. Easton Schank had a big game to lead the way for the Aviators as he threw two touchdown passes and also rushed for two more.

Stansbury 55, Uintah 0
The Stallions cruised to a blowout victory over Uintah to open region play Friday night. Stansbury tailback Nate Bushnell rushed for three touchdowns and Bridger Thomas rushed for a touchdown while also returning an interception for a touchdown.

Timpanogos 63, Mountain View 7
The Timberwolves scored over 60 points for the second straight game in their dominating win over Mountain View Friday night. Timpanogos quarterback Matu Holdaway threw six touchdowns, giving him 15 for the year.

Tooele 60, Hillcrest 7
The Buffaloes scored all 60 of their points before the halftime whistle to dismantle Hillcrest and improve to 3-0 on the season. Quarterback Payton Sprouse threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another in Tooele’s red-hot first half.

Region 10
Pine View 45, Hurricane 6
Pine View’s defense dominated throughout the game holding Hurricane to just 189 yards of total offense as it cruised to the region-opening victory. Sawyer Woods led the way offensively completing 14 of 23 passes for 365 yards and three touchdowns, with Dominique McKenzie hauling in 200 of those yards and two touchdowns. His TD receptions covered 80 and 86 yards.
Snow Canyon 48, Cedar City 14
Hunter Johnson completed 17 of 25 passes for 210 yards and six touchdowns and then he also rushed for another score as Snow Canyon outscored Cedar 20-0 in the second quarter en route to the lopsided region-opening victory. Will Warner accounted for two of those TD receptions, while Snow Canyon’s defense also came up big forcing three turnovers.
“We are proud of the way we bounced back and executed tonight. Thought our O line did a good job protecting our QB. Hunter Johnson looked good throwing and moving around in the pocket. Spread the ball to multiple receivers that caught the ball and ran well. Our D line and defense played well. Our DB’s had some good one on one coverage that let us use some blitzes that helped us.”

Desert Hills 33, Crimson Cliffs 21
After a combined 13 points were scored in the first three quarters, the teams exploded for 41 combined points in the final quarter of the game—27 of which came from Desert Hills who secured the victory in what was the region opener for both teams. Quarterback Noah Fuailetolo tossed two touchdowns and rushed for another in what was a blazing final quarter for the Mustangs.

Cokeville, Wyo. 31, Rich 6
Riley Carrillo scored on a 52-yard TD run midway through the first quarter, but that was all the scoring Rich could muster up against visiting Cokeville, Wyo., which pulled away in the fourth quarter for the victory.
North Sevier 15, Layton Christian 14
North Sevier held on to beat Layton Christian in a battle of upstart 1A teams as the Eagles missed a potential game-winning field as time expired. Layton Christian scored a late touchdown to make it a one-possession game, and then recovered the onside kick to set up the potential game winner.
Parowan 54, Monticello 14
Braden Bettridge scored a rushing touchdown and had an interception return for a touchdown as Parowan rolled past Monticello.
Corner Canyon 70, Jordan 7
Yet another Corner Canyon blowout victory took place Friday night with Jordan on the losing side this time. Jett Meine caught three touchdown passes while Owen Borg and Tyler McDonald each had a pick-six for the top-ranked Chargers, which easily improved to 4-0 with the victory.

Wasatch 44, Pleasant Grove 24
After falling behind 10-0 midway through the first quarter, Wasatch proceeded to score the next 44 points as it rolled past 6A’s Pleasant Grove for the bounce-back victory after last week’s heartbreak in the fourth quarter. Adarius Edwards tossed three touchdowns and threw for over 300 yards to lead the way offensively, while standout kicker Ashton Southam came up big with three field goals. Back-up QB Quezon Villa added a pair of second-half touchdown runs to ice the victory. Josh Sanders and Breken Bowen each recorded takeaways defensively.
Kanab 27, Duchesne 6
Wyatt Kennedy returned a fumble 71 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter to give Kanab a two touchdown lead and it never looked back in knocking off No. 1 Duchesne. Griffin Bone threw two touchdown passes of over 20 yards for Kanab.
“Tough fought game between two similar teams. Despite some costly mistakes and penalties we were able to make big plays and get a win. Huge defensive effort lead by Wyatt Kennedy. As well as Kason Janes and the rest of our defensive line. Collin Szymanski led the way up front offensively and Parker Franklin ran hard. Very proud of how hard our team played.”

North Summit 7, Enterprise 0
Crimzon Crittenden tossed a 15-yard touchdown to Ian Koyle right before the end of the first half to give North Summit a 7-0 lead at the break. The defenses would continue to battle, but in the end the Wolves couldn’t find the end zone and the halftime score stood for a North Summit victory.

Mountain Ridge 26, Sky View 10
Mountain Ridge improved to 4-0 with another double-digit victory, this time by taking down Sky View on the road — and taking care of business in the first three quarters instead of waiting for a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback. Cade Uluave had three rushing touchdowns, including a 61-yarder in the third quarter to push the lead to 23-3.

Timpview 24, Bingham 12
Liu Aumavae threw three touchdown passes, including two to Pokai Haunga, as Timpview used a strong overall performance to beat Bingham for its third straight victory. Timpview’s defense played great the entire game keeping Bingham out of the end zone until very late in the fourth quarter.
“We challenged our kids after a tough week to improve and play to our potential. The kids rose to the occasion against a very good Bingham team and earned a hard fought win.”

Green Canyon 24, Morgan 21
Gavin Christiansen, Cole Fife and Kyle Baker (passes from Jack Steven) all found the end zone as Green Canyon beat Morgan to cap an emotional week after a teammate passed away this week. The Wolves took an 21-7 lead at halftime before Morgan made it close with 14 points in the fourth quarter. Caleb Naegle’s 24-yard field goal with five minutes left in the game ended up being the deciding points for the Wolves.
“It has been a very emotional week for us. It was nice to see a smile on the boys faces tonight. They played with relentless effort to win a very good Morgan team.”

Skyline 38, Bountiful 36
Trailing by 20 heading into the fourth quarter, Skyline outscored Bountiful 28-6 in the final period to secure a miraculous comeback victory Friday night. Skyline tailback Porter Brockman scored three of his four total touchdowns in the final quarter to help the Eagles complete the comeback and improve to 2-2 on the season. His last score came on a 1-yard TD pass from Andrew Rasmussen with 14 seconds left in the game.

Box Elder 14, Bear River 6
Box Elder defeated Bear River thanks to 14 points in the second quarter as it won a defensive grudge match in the battle for the Golden Spike. Easton White had a 72-yard touchdown run and Daxton Sumko scored a touchdown.
“Our team played with great energy tonight. It was a total team win to get the Spike back. I was proud of our team for battling through mistakes. Bear River drove the ball well and our defense came up with big fourth down stops and our offensive line blocked well all night.”

West Jordan 52, Granger 24
Boston Farmer threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes, while Octavian Heflin rushed for three scores and then scored a fourth on a receiving touchdown as West Jordan improved to 4-0 this preseason with an easy victory at Granger. The Jaguars defense recorded a pair of second-quarter safeties as well to get in the scoring mix.
“Granger has some tough players. They could have folded early but they kept fighting. Our offense was on fire and our defense got points too this week. We need to clean up our mistakes defensively that cost us a few scores. But overall our kids played hard and I couldn’t be more proud of this team right now. I love what we are building here.”

Herriman 17, Westlake 14
Down 14-10 with less than 29 seconds remaining, Herriman improbably still found a way to beat Westlake. Westlake had the ball on fourth down at Herriman’s 33 yard line, but instead of punting or just trying to run for a first down, it elected to try a pass play. Herriman’s Michael Falatea intercepted the overthrown pass and returned it 85 yards for the game-winning touchdown with eight seconds remaining.

Skyridge 36, Orem 0
Skyridge got contributions from everyone in a win over Orem. Jace Doman, McCae Hillstead, Jeter Fenton and Dace Smith all scored touchdowns for the Falcons, while the defense recorded a fourth-straight shutout to start the season. It was Orem’s first shutout since 2016, snapping a school-record 65-game scoring streak.

Springville 23, Riverton 21
Springville took a slight lead into the fourth quarter and held on to a tight victory in a back and forth battle. Each team scored two touchdowns in the final minutes, leading to a few lead changes and a down to the wire victory. Ryder Burton tossed two scores for Springville while the Silverwolves were led by Ryder Burton’s two.
“Our kids are resilient. We had to change the momentum after they took the lead, and it took a while. Our defense stayed tough, got us the ball back. We were able to get the running game going a little bit and then hit some big passes. I’m proud of our guys staying positive and knowing that we still had a chance to go get it done.”

Ridgeline 43, Woods Cross 12
Ridgeline outscored Wood Cross 22-0 in the second quarter to take a comfortable lead and secure the victory Friday night. Quarterback Kaden Cox tossed four touchdown passes in what was the third straight game of 42 or more points for the Riverhawks, who improved to 4-0 with the win.
“Great team win tonight. Defensively the kids played hard and flew around. Offensively, we were very effective in the pass game. I thought Kaden got in a great rhythm and Strat Simmons really caught the ball well.”

American Leadership 34, South Sevier 33
Tyrell Robertson threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Blake Huff in the fourth quarter which proved to be the game winner as ALA rallied past South Sevier for its first win of the season.
Northridge 48, Cottonwood 0
Northridge put up a 41-spot in the first half as it defeated Cottonwood. Maximus Fonoti-Maikui threw six touchdown passes in the win, including two each to Malikai Williams and Josh Acord.
Highland, Idaho 47, Logan 13
Logan struggled against Highland, Idaho as they didn’t find the end zone until the fourth quarter. Matthew Mason and Keaton Pond had rushing touchdowns in the loss.
Providence Hall 42, Lincoln County, Nev. 0
Jacob Walsh ran for three touchdowns and Michael Scott threw for two more as Providence Hall beat visiting Lincoln County, Nev. for the victory.

San Juan 62, Milford 41
Points certainly weren’t hard to come by in a matchup that saw 103 combined points scored. San Juan quarterback Jace Palmer recorded six total touchdowns, helping the Broncos improve to 3-1 on the season.
“We won in a shoot out tonight in a high-scoring affair. Our offense lit it up rushing for four touchdowns and throwing for five. We got just enough stops to come home with a win.”

Bonneville 31, Mountain Crest 7
Koy Dixon scored all four touchdowns for the Lakers, each of which was a short run of under five yards. Lucas Victorino added a late field goal while the Bonneville defense allowed just one touchdown all game as the Lakers escaped with a dominant road victory.
Alta 29, Maple Mountain 9
Alta quarterback Ethan Jackson threw four touchdowns and passed for 426 yards as the Hawks built an early three-possession lead en route to the convincing win over Maple Mountain. Two of those touchdown passes were grabbed by Jace Turner, who finished 156 receiving yards. Jensen Campbell added 146 receiving yards and another score.

Richfield 23, Millard 6
After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats were able to edge out Millard in a defensive battle. The Eagles were closing in on the games first points halfway through the third quarter when JJ Tafatafua intercepted a pass and returned it 86-yards for a touchdown. Millard rebounded and find the end zone, but a few possessions later Stockton Pearson got in the backfield and tackled Millard for a safety, giving Richfield a 9-6 lead and momentum which it carried victory.
Beaver 33, Summit Academy 31
Summit Academy gave Beaver a run for its money with two late touchdown passes from Devin Watson, but the Beavers narrowly edged out the Bears. Cobe Carter was the star on offense for Beaver, finishing with four total touchdowns.
“We made just enough plays down the stretch to outlast a very good Summit Academy team. Cobe Carter had a huge game both running and receiving for us. Had a lot of kids step up and play tough. We have lots of things to get better at but our team has shown a lot of heart these first four games of the season.”

Lehi 49, Copper Hills 6
Lehi scored three of their seven touchdowns in the first quarter, including a rushing and receiving score by Carson Gonzalez. The Pioneer would go on to win by 43 points, the only Grizzlies points of the night came from a Zachary Nope five yard touchdown reception from Brady Wardle.
“We played very well in all three phases of the game. We still need to improve in many areas to be able to compete consistently. We are now headed into our gauntlet. Look I be forward to the challenge of playing the best team in the State next week.”

South Summit 56, Ben Lomond 0
Kyler Sudweeks passed five touchdowns and rushed for three more — with all but one coming in the first half — as South Summit jumped all over Ben Lomond right from the opening kick for the easy victory.
Juab 45, Delta 27
After the teams combined for a scoreless first quarter, the offenses exploded in the second half for a joined 42-point period. The Wasps would sting the Rabbits for another two touchdowns in the final period to grab a double-digit win. Alex Jackson tossed six touchdown passes in the win.
“Alex Jackson made some great decisions and our line gave him time to throw. Our wide receivers caught the ball well. Give Delta credit. They played a tough game.”

Ogden 42, Grand 14
Ogden did all of its scoring in the first half as it handled Grand. The Tigers’ run game was great, with four different running backs — Chet Colvin, Levi Wilson, Ayden Franich and Yahir Morales hitting paydirt.
“It was an amazing night of love and support from the Ogden community and former players. Our team was inspired by an amazing crowd and six different players scored in the Ogden win.”

Syracuse 21, Salem Hills 3
Looking to improve to 4-0 on the season, the Titans held Salem Hills to just a lone field goal to secure their fourth victory of the year. Syracuse excelled at scoring when it got close to the endzone, with touchdown runs of one, five and one yards.

Provo 38, Viewmont 35
In an offensive shootout, Provo bested Viewmont. A pair of fourth-quarter Bulldog touchdowns proved to the the difference in the contest. Feitagai Lesa had a touchdown run and Tomasi Hifo hauled in a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jace Welsch.

Union 51, Emery 13
Union took full control of the game from the outset, scoring four straight times to open the contest. Boone Lathem threw six touchdown passes to get the Cougars’ first win of the season.
Grantsville 27, North Sanpete 0
Grantsville scored 20 points in the second half and the Cowboys’ defense shut out North Sanpete. Blake Thomas scored twice for Grantsville, which improved its record at 2-2 after starting the season with a couple of narrow losses against quality programs.
