Volunteers on Wednesday posted more than 3,000 American flags in perfect rows and columns outside of Sandy’s City Hall to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The Healing Field honors each life lost on that tragic day, as well as Utah’s fallen military members and first responders. The temporary memorial, sponsored by the Colonial Flag Foundation since 2002, also offers a place of comfort and healing.

The Healing Field, located at 10000 S. Centennial Parkway, is open to the public daily until 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13. Each night at 7:30, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps will play taps.

On Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be a car show featuring vintage vehicles, a raffle, and vendor food trucks. At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Utah Symphony will perform a patriotic set followed by an Air Force flyover.
