Here’s how to watch the matchup between Utah State and Boise State, plus a preview

Utah State (3-0) vs. Boise State (1-2)

THE TRENDS

For Utah State: The Aggies haven’t won in the series since beating Boise State 52-26 in Logan back in 2015, their only win over the Broncos in their past 18 meetings. Utah State would stay atop the Mountain West Conference’s Mountain Division standings with a win.

For Boise State: The Broncos would move back to .500 on the year with a victory, with losses to UCF and Oklahoma State sandwiched around a win over UTEP. Boise State is opening its conference slate in Logan.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Utah State has trailed by double digits in all three games this year, only to win all three. The Aggies have outscored their opposition 51-10 in the fourth quarter.

Boise State, meanwhile, has led by double digits in all three of its games this season, only to lose two of those contests by five points or less (36-31 to UCF and 21-20 to Oklahoma State).

The Aggies executed offensively last week in their 49-45 win at Air Force. Utah State turned all three of its red-zone opportunities into touchdowns and the offense was 14 of 21 on third down while rolling up 628 yards of total offense. The Aggies will need a similar type outing on that side of the ball to keep pace with Boise State; the Broncos have averaged 38.6 points per game in their five-game win streak over Utah State.

KEY PLAYER

Calvin Tyler Jr., RB, Utah State: Tyler, the Oregon State transfer, has been a big part of the Aggies’ offense so far, rushing for a team-high 288 yards and four touchdowns. Boise State is struggling to stop the run this year, giving up 212.7 yards per game this season, which ranks 115th nationally. Tyler is averaging 6.1 yards per carry and ran for 132 yards and two scores in the win over Air Force. If he can get going again, that will help balance the Utah State offensive attack.
