Installation
Next, we will explain how Pidgin is installed on
Debian and derived from it as Ubuntu:
Steps for installing and configuring Pidgin:
1 . – Through Debian (also in distributions based on Debian) we will use the
package management system (Advanced Packaging Tool – APT) to perform
our installation using a console (you can also use programs from
graphic interface as Synaptic and the like).
2. – We add the code of the Pidgin repositories in our sources.list file
(/etc/apt/sources.list), in order to do the installation through the system
APT.

3. – Then proceed to the actual installation, we do
then use the APT tool, writing in our console the command
"apt-get install pidgin" (without the quotes), or through the graphic interface of
Synaptic doing a search of the package and then selecting it for
installation and installing the previously selected.

It should look something like this:

Accounts -> Enable account, then enable the account (s) that
we want to use in the window (active session).
At the end it should be as follows:

"hotmail" and "gmail" at the same time, having all my contacts in the same window.
(note that Pidgin is multi-user).
] You can see that Pidgin has a cleaner and simpler interface. So
