SALT LAKE CITY — Two people from California were killed in a crash near Green River on Sunday, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
Starla J. Leal, 38, and Trevor J. Manning, 29, both of Huntington Beach, were ejected from an SUV when it overturned on I-70. The crash happened about 4 miles west of Green River, just before 4 p.m.
Leal and Manning were driving west together in a 2003 Ford Excursion when the SUV left its lane, the Utah Highway Patrol said. It drove briefly on the shoulder next to the median before going across both westbound lanes and driving on the outer shoulder.
The SUV rolled at least once before coming to rest upright.
Leal and Manning, who were the only people inside the SUV, were ejected while it was rolling. Leal died at the scene and Manning was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries shortly after.
Neither were wearing seat belts, UHP said.
