WEST VALLEY CITY — A 13-year-old boy who walked away from the Juvenile Receiving Center in South Salt Lake on Monday was hit by a car and killed later that night, police said.

Benjamin Heber walked away from the center, located at 177 Price Ave., about 8 p.m., according to the Draper Police Department.

It was learned he was fatally hit by a car in West Valley City later in the evening, police said.

Details about the crash were not immediately available.
