PARK CITY — A Park City man was beaten and stabbed by a masked man after responding to an ad for a housecleaner on Craigslist, police say.
The man, 63, hired Amber Lynn Lands, 37, of Salt Lake City, to clean his home after seeing her advertisement online, according to a police affidavit.
Lands arrived at the man’s house at 1 a.m. Monday to clean. Her husband, Steven White, 42, showed up shortly after, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
White, who was wearing a mask and gloves, punched the man in the face and stabbed him with a knife, demanding money, according to the affidavit. The man was stabbed multiple times and suffered “extensive injuries” to his face.
Lands had texted White, “telling him it was time to come in the house and rob” the man, then she let him in the front door, the affidavit states. The pair also stole methamphetamine from the man, according to police.
When questioned by deputies, Lands and White said they had gone to the man’s house and that White had assaulted the man, but said it was because the man had sexually assaulted Lands, according to the affidavit.
Lands was booked into the Summit County Jail for investigation of burglary. White was booked for investigation of aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.
