Robbie Averett and Natalie Averett look at renderings of a new park at 4042 S. 7200 West in Magna during its groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday. The 25-acre park will feature a multipurpose field, playground, splash pad, walking paths, pavilions and restrooms. Future phases will add an additional 34 acres to the park. The park has been in the planning stages since Salt Lake County purchased the 62-acre site from Orbital ATK through the 2012 Regional Parks and Trails bond. Development and design began once voters approved $90 million in bonds to build new parks, trails and recreational amenities in 2016. Phase one of the project is expected to be completed in May 2021.
