Utah man killed in ATV crash

LOGAN — A 36-year-old Logan man was killed Sunday in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Cache County, according to the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation.

Coré Pimentel was riding on the Shoshone Trail system with his 6-year-old son in the late afternoon when their ATV went off the trail and over a 30-foot embankment, Lt. Eric Stucki said.

Pimentel was declared dead at the scene after his face struck a rock, resulting in fatal injuries. His son, who was riding on the same ATV, was not injured, according to Stucki. Both Pimentel and his son were wearing helmets.

It’s unknown exactly why the ATV went off the trail, but speed and unfamiliarity with the trail were likely factors, Stucki said. Pimentel and his son were riding with a larger group of people but were a few minutes ahead of the rest of the group, so the others did not witness the accident.

Utah Parks and Recreation and the Cache County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the crash.
