The concert announcements keep rolling in
SALT LAKE CITY — The concert announcements keep rolling in.
On Monday, comedy queen Carol Burnett and performers Alanis Morissette, Chicago and Rick Springfield announced plans to come to Utah in 2020. Here’s a rundown of the concert dates and when tickets go on sale.
Carol Burnett: Carol Burnett is one of the few comedy legends left. Before the groundbreaking “Carol Burnett Show” — which earned more than 20 Emmy Awards — Burnett appeared alongside Lucille Ball in “The Lucy Show” and, a few years later, “Here’s Lucy.” It’s no surprise the two comedy queens were so close (Ball died on Burnett’s birthday, on April 26, 1989). Comedian Tim Conway, who starred in “The Carol Burnett Show” with Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence, died earlier this year. At 86, Burnett is coming to Utah to keep the classic comedy alive with her show, “Carol Burnett: An Evening of Laughter and Reflection” (if we’re lucky, she’ll do her signature Tarzan yell). The show has been going on for a few years and comes to the Eccles Theater June 2. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. MST.
Alanis Morissette: Alanis Morissette’s breakthrough album “Jagged Little Pill” has been around for 25 years now. To celebrate the Grammy-winning record that gave us hits like “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket” and “Ironic,” the singer is going on a 31-date anniversary tour. Morissette announced the 2020 tour — which rolls through USANA Amphitheatre June 7 — on Monday. The announcement comes a few days before the album-inspired Broadway show, “Jagged Little Pill,” debuts on Dec. 5. Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. MST.
Chicago/Rick Springfield: A year after headlining a concert with REO Speedwagon at USANA Amphitheatre, the rock band Chicago is returning to the 20,000-seat venue. This time, the brassy band — which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 — is bringing “Jessie’s Girl” singer Rick Springfield along for the ride. Chicago and Springfield announced the joint tour Monday, including the West Valley City stop on June 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. MST.
