Utah’s Hogle Zoo gets visitors at last

The beleaguered Hogle Zoo opened its doors again on Saturday, after 50 days of no visitors due to statewide restrictions resulting from COVID-19. Shay Mahan, 11, mimics a meerkat on a visit to the zoo with his parents Mark Mahan and Stacey Mahan and his brother Wesley Mahan, 10. “The staff and the animals will be happy to see you,” said Steve Burns, president and CEO at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. The zoo is allowing 200 people inside every half hour during operating hours, also asking guests to limit time there to two hours. Masks are required at all times at the zoo and tickets need to be purchased ahead of time. Guests can sign up to visit during a particular time slot and will follow a one-way path, to avoid crowding. Indoor exhibits, playgrounds and the carousel remain closed.
