Los Angeles murals celebrating Kobe Bryant remain untouched despite protests over George Floyd’s death

Murals honoring Kobe Bryant and his late daughter Gianna Bryant remain untouched in Los Angeles after multiple protests swept the area this weekend.

What’s going on:

Photos emerged on social media that showed murals honoring the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter untouched after protests hit Los Angeles over the death of George Floyd, a Minneapolis black man who was killed after a white police officer knelt on his neck.

Legion Hoops said: “Despite the large amount of graffiti done during the protests in Los Angeles, all Kobe & Gianna murals have been completely untouched. Respect.”

‘Spread LOVE,’ Bryant widow urges

  • Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, posted a photo of Kobe Bryant to Instagram over the weekend. The photo showed Kobe Bryant wearing an “I Can’t Breathe” shirt, which he wore to honor Eric Garner back in 2012.
  • Vanessa Bryant called for people to spread love amid the protests.
  • Vanessa Bryant said: “Life is so fragile. Life is so unpredictable. Life is too short. Let’s share and embrace the beautiful qualities and similarities we all share as people. Drive out hate. Teach respect and love for all at home and school. Spread LOVE. Fight for change- register to VOTE. Do not use innocent lives lost as an excuse to loot. BE AN EXAMPLE OF THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE. #BLACKLIVESMATTER ❤️”
