Brands that had previously partnered with Myka Stauffer have said that they will not be working with her in the future

Companies and brands are distancing themselves from YouTuber Myka Stauffer, who revealed last week that she had “rehomed” her adopted son, who has autism, following a social media backlash, according to People magazine.

Playtex Baby, Danimals, Mattel/Barbie, Suave and Chili’s are among the companies that had previously partnered with Stauffer and are now saying that they will not be working with her in the future, according to People.

The companies’ response comes after Stauffer became the subject of controversy last week, when she and her husband James shared a video to their 700,000 YouTube followers that revealed their four-year-old son Huxley (who they had adopted from China two years earlier) was living with a new family.

“There’s not an ounce of our body that doesn’t love Huxley with all of our being,” Stauffer said in the YouTube video, according to the Deseret News. “There wasn’t a minute that I didn’t try our hardest and I think what Jim is trying to say is that after multiple assessments, after multiple evaluations, numerous medical professionals have felt that he needed a different fit and that his medical needs, he needed more.”

However, many on social media have critiqued the Stauffers, who claim that because their YouTube channel is monetized, they benefited from the many videos and pictures they shared of Huxley and his adoption story, according to BuzzFeed News.

Many social media users reached out to companies that had sponsored or partnered with Stauffer in the past, and several brands replied that they will not be working with her in the future, according to People.

Danimals wrote in an Instagram post, “We have previously worked with Myka Stauffer and are no longer working with her. We are aware of the news she shared about her family, and are very sad to hear about this difficult situation.”

“Our last post with her was back in February,” Playtex Baby wrote on Instagram. “We are not partnering with her moving forward.”

Chili’s replied to an Instagram commenter: “We haven’t partnered with Myka since 2019 and do not have plans for any more partnerships.”

Stauffer had also made sponsored posts during the past year for Mattel/Barbie and actress Kate Hudson’s Fabletics activewear line, according to People.

Hudson wrote on Instagram that Stauffer had been “terminated.” The official Barbie Instagram account wrote: “We are not currently working with the Stauffer family and do not have plans to partner with them in the future.”
