Man hit, killed after walking toward traffic on I-80

WENDOVER — A man died early Saturday morning near Wendover after being hit by an RV, troopers said.

At about 1:20 a.m. a car leaving Wendover was traveling east on I-80 toward Salt Lake City, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. Two passengers “who had been drinking” needed to use a restroom, causing the driver to pull over and let them out.

One of the passengers began to walk toward traffic, troopers said, when he was hit by a Fleetwood RV. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The man’s name was not immediately released.
