Why did Bob Iger slam the CDC?
Bob Iger — the chairman for the happiest place on Earth — wants you to know he’s unhappy about the CDC’s latest guidelines regarding the novel coronavirus.
What’s happening?
On Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidelines to say that those who have been exposed to the coronavirus but are without symptoms “do not necessarily need a test.”
This means asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers — deemed as super spreaders — wouldn’t need to be tested, which could limit how much control the U.S. has over the virus.
Bob Iger, of Disney, did not appreciate the change.
- Iger said: “This is more than disappointing. It is horrifying.”

The state of play for Iger
- It may seem odd for Iger to weigh in on this reversal. But he has been working with California Gov. Gavin Newsom on the business recovery task force, which has worked to help California recover from the coronavirus pandemic recession.
- Iger’s mind will obviously consider Disney and Walt Disney World, too.
- Walt Disney World has reportedly seen an 80% decrease in attendance, per Business Insider — a sign of the new normal that Disney must consider amid the pandemic.
