Man accused of soliciting women near Silver Lake, charges state

SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say tried to solicit two teen girls to take their tops off so he could take pictures has been charged.

Kevin Richard Olmore, 53, of Tooele, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with two counts of criminal solicitation, a third-degree felony; and sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

In April, Olmore was at Silver Lake, 8050 S. Brighton Loop Road, near Brighton Ski Resort, when he saw two girls, ages 15 and 17, taking senior pictures for school, according to charging documents.

Olmore offered help by taking pictures of the girls. But while doing so, he started to make comments like, “I wish you were my lovers,” the charges state. He then suggested they go somewhere more private “so you can take your tops off” and offered them “herbs,” according to charging documents.

The girls tried to leave but Olmore insisted on getting a hug from each girl before they left, the charges state. The girls then ran to their car and locked the door with Olmore following, the charges state. He was yelling at them, asking if he had done something wrong.

As police were responding to the scene, dispatchers received another call from an upset woman who said she was also hiking around Silver Lake when she was approached by Olmore, whom she recognized as someone who came into her work, the charges state. Olmore asked if he could hike with her.

During the hike, Olmore continued to make comments about the woman’s body and how beautiful she was and then offered her marijuana oil, according to charging documents. The woman, feeling uncomfortable, told Olmore she wanted to continue the hike alone. But before he left, Olmore said he wanted to hug her.

The woman reluctantly consented, the charges state. But during the hug, Olmore placed both of his hands on her buttocks and kept them there “for some time,” the charges state.

The woman walked away and called police. Officers later found Olmore at his home in Tooele and arrested him.

A $100,000 warrant was issued Thursday for Olmore’s arrest.
