Police investigating shooting in Salt Lake City that left 1 man dead

SALT LAKE CITY – Police report a 34-year-old Black man was shot and killed in an incident near North Temple and 900 West Saturday morning.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Brian Sloan said the victim, whose identity has not been released, was transferred to an area hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds but died of his injuries.

Sloan said the incident is under investigation and the shooter is still at large, but noted that police do not believe the suspect is a risk to the public.

Police are reviewing video from multiple cameras in the area, according to Sloan, and though there were several witnesses to the incident, none could provide police with details on what led to the shooting.
